FULL DAY – HUMMINGBIRDS, COFFEE FINCA & CACAO WORKSHOP IN MINDO

Your day begins around 8:00 am as you leave Quito and descend through shifting climates, watching the dry Andean landscape turn into lush cloud forest. A first stop in Calacalí offers an up-close encounter with vibrant hummingbirds, followed by a visit to a specialty coffee finca in Nanegalito, where you’ll walk through shaded plantations, learn about sustainable cultivation, and taste Ecuador’s rich, high-altitude coffee profiles.

By midday, you’ll reach Mindo for lunch featuring fresh regional flavors before diving into a cacao workshop that traces the full bean-to-bar process—harvesting, fermenting, grinding, and tasting artisanal chocolates made from Ecuador’s famed cacao varieties. As the afternoon light settles over the cloud forest, enjoy a final peaceful moment in Mindo before returning to Quito, arriving in the late afternoon with the aromas of coffee and cacao still lingering.
