Peru is located in the western part of South America, bordered by Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil to the east, Bolivia to the southeast, Chile to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. The main entry point for international travelers is Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport.

Visitors from most countries can enter Peru without a visa for stays of up to 183 days. A passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry is required.

The official currency is the Peruvian Sol (PEN). Spanish is the official language, but Quechua and Aymara are also widely spoken, especially in the Andean regions.
