Itinerario

FULL DAY – PLAZAS, CHURCHES, COLONIAL STREETS & PANORAMIC VIEWS

Your guide picks you up around 8:30 am as cool Andean air settles over Quito’s historic center. The day begins at Plaza San Francisco, a grand open square framed by its 16th-century church and convent—one of the city’s most iconic colonial landmarks. From there, wander through cobblestone streets to the Cathedral and continue to Iglesia de la Compañía, the famous Golden Church, where walls, altars, and domes shimmer with intricate gold leaf. Crossing Plaza Grande and the Archbishop’s Palace, your guide brings Quito’s history to life through stories of artists, revolutionaries, and ancient traditions.

Around midday, enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant where Ecuadorian flavors take center stage—steaming locro soup, crisp fritada, mote, Andean potatoes, and fresh tropical juices. In the afternoon, visit the impressive Basilica del Voto Nacional, a neo-Gothic masterpiece whose towers offer panoramic views of the city. Your final stop is El Panecillo, a hilltop crowned by the Virgin of Quito, overlooking the old town, rolling Andean hills, and the distant peaks that shape the city’s skyline. The tour concludes back at your hotel in the late afternoon.

How much walking is involved?

Our full-day Quito Old Town is a walking tour through the historic center of Quito, so you can expect a moderate amount of walking on cobblestone streets with some gentle uphills and stairs. In total, we usually cover around 3–4 km throughout the day, with plenty of stops in plazas, viewpoints, cafés and inside the churches, so it doesn’t feel rushed. If you have any mobility concerns, let us know in advance – we can adapt the Quito city tour to make it slower-paced or include more breaks.

Are the church entrance fees included?

Yes, the entrance fees to the churches and main sites listed in your itinerary are included in the final price. This normally covers visits to iconic landmarks such as the main basilicas, viewpoints, and museum-churches in the historic center. If you decide to visit any additional sites that are not part of the planned route, those extra tickets would be at your own expense.

Can lunch be adapted to vegetarian or vegan options?

Absolutely. We work with local restaurants that can adapt your meals to vegetarian, vegan, or other dietary needs, such as gluten-free or dairy-free. Just let us know your preferences when you book (or at least 24 hours before the tour), and we’ll make sure your meal is both safe and delicious.

Yes. We can finish the tour with a direct drop-off at Quito Airport (UIO). Just let us know your flight details in advance so we can schedule the timing comfortably.
