This four-day tour was designed for adventurers and animal lovers. Experience the natural wonders the Ecuadorian Amazon has to offer with the rainforest as a backdrop and the magnificent Cuyabeno River at the front steps. Get up close to caimans, pink dolphins, tapirs, and anacondas in their natural environment!

Shared Trip On this shared trip, you’ll have other travelers joining you and your travel party. One guide/tour leader will accompany the group during the whole tour.
Departure & Return This trip starts and ends in Lago Agrio city. Please contact us if you need help getting to Lago Agrio from Quito or any other corner of the country.

On this trip you will be sharing a room with other travelers. All rooms have a private bathrooms. We assure you that all accommodations are clean and safe. However, there is the option to upgrade to private rooms!

Itinerary

Day 1: Pink dolphins, monkeys, sloths and more!
  • You will start making your way towards the bridge of the Cuyabeno.  You’ll embark on the canoe and continue your way towards the lodge while watching the scenery along the Cuyabeno River.
  • On the way, you can spot birds, monkeys, and other jungle creatures, accompanied by a guide who will provide information on how the animals and plants interact and balance the life within the Cuyabeno Ecosystem in which they coexist.
  • Once you arrive at the lodge you will have time to settle in. In the evening you will enjoy a delicious lunch and after dinner, our native guide gives a brief introduction to the activities for the next few days.

Day 2: Primary forest hike and canoe exploration
  • You will have a unique chance to listen to the sounds of the jungle while watching an amazing sunrise early in the morning.
  • Then it is time to cruise the Cuyabeno River and go for a hike in the primary forest to observe the flora and fauna of the Amazon. You can see different species of plants, huge trees, aquatic vines, orchids, medicinal herbs and a large number of animals and birds of the Amazon
  • After reaching the Laguna Grande, you will have some time to take a refreshing swim while trying to spot the pink dolphins.
  • In the evening you will go on a mysterious but exciting night excursion and look for black caimans and specific types of insects.

Day 3: Amazonian culture, communities, and shaman
  • In the morning you will visit the Siona Indigenous Community and learn about their traditions, culture and customs. 
  • You can harvest some Cassava and then take part in the preparation of a typical dish of this tribe.
  • Then you will have some time to meet the Shaman and learn about the spiritual world that surrounds these communities; the energies, visionary, healing and divinatory skills.

Day 4: Early morning species search
  • Try to enjoy a fascinating sunrise before breakfast. Animals tend to get very active early in the morning: monkeys, toucans, sloths, dolphins, giant otters, etc.
  • After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to the Jungle.
  • Your canoe will pick you up from the lodge and will take you back to the bridge where you will enjoy lunch. 
  • From here you will be able to catch the bus that will take you back to Quito or your next destination.
